Work in progress: css navigation bar

Last night I did some css coding trying to create a horizontal navigation bar for this Movable Type weblog. As pointed out by my colleague  such a bar can be quite effective in helping the visitor to navigate through a weblog that contains topics in several areas of interest. The default MT weblog template is rather limited in this aspect. My first attempts can be seen above in the banner area in the picture below. Thanks to Jason Cranford, author of the book DHTML and CSS for the World Wide Web which I bought last year in New York, and Matthew Mullenweg for providing the example code on which I will base my final navigation bar.
